But since I just got a prompt from the auto-reminder, I want to share what I've been thinking about lately: For a few years I've had this nagging sense that faith communities are missing an opportunity to get involved in community gardening of all sorts. A few years back I was involved with a church in Sacramento that ripped up some of the lawn outside its' building, installed some planter boxes and grew a mess of vegetables. It turned out to be a great way to engage (and feed) neighbors. I've recently blogged about the prospects for congregations participating in creation of a local and cooperatively-based food system.
